Settings → Backup & clone is how you copy a server’s Thea configuration. Use it to snapshot production, seed a staging server, or move settings to a new community.

Export

Under Back up this configuration, click Download to get a JSON file of this server’s settings. The snapshot includes answering, handoff, tickets, welcome, notifications, AutoMod, raid protection, and server logs. It excludes credentials, API keys, member data, and moderation records. Saved replies are not included. If a saved setting holds a value the backup format no longer accepts, the export names the field to fix. You can also start an export from Discord:
That command gives you a link to the same dashboard download. It does not attach the file in Discord.
Export is configuration, not your knowledge index. Documents, passages, conversations, and ticket transcripts stay on the original server.

Import

Import applies a previously exported file to this server.
  1. Open Settings → Backup & clone.
  2. Under Restore from a file, choose the JSON file.
  3. Click Preview changes and review what will change.
  4. Click Restore.
The preview is there so you can see every card that will be overwritten before you confirm. Changing Leave unknown channels and roles unset clears the preview, so preview again before you restore.

Clone to another server

If you manage more than one server with Thea, Copy to another server copies this server’s configuration to another server you have settings access on. Pick the Destination server, click Preview changes, then Copy configuration. You need Settings write permission on the destination. Billing, API keys, and the knowledge index are not cloned.

What an import or copy refuses

Thea refuses an import or copy that would:
  • set @everyone as the support role;
  • change the join role to one you could not assign yourself in Discord (see Welcome);
  • leave the AutoMod log channel empty while global blacklist review mode is on. A copy always clears the log channel, because channels belong to the source server, so turn review mode off on the destination before you copy.
Status-page alerts arrive turned off when their channel does not exist on the destination.
